Data Engineering Lead

Job Description

How you will contribute:
• Work and lead a team of Data Engineers in Vietnam to scale our backend data platform
• Manage the assignment and delivery of tickets for your team in Jira,while communicating with your US manager via written communication (Slack) and video meetings (Hangouts).
• Establish our workflow orchestration toolset using technologies like Airflow, Docker and Kubernetes
• Build streaming and batch data pipelines from Fivetran, AWS Lambda ETL jobs, and Kafka topics, to the Snowflake data warehouse
• Support the development of scalable data-powered APIs by setting up AWS resources using terraform, kubernetes, docker containers, and github actions
• Manage internal application and analytics data models, while applying best practices for read and write performance where needed
• Troubleshoot technical issues with platforms, including building and maintaining logging, monitoring alerting with DataDog.

Job Qualification
Skills you’ll bring:
• Experience with cloud computing (preferably AWS), containerization (Docker and Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (preferably Terraform)
• Experience in data modeling, schema design, and ability to write SQL queries in relational databases
• Experience creating ETL jobs and building workflow automation tooling (preferably as DAGs with sensors in Airflow)
• Experienced in building and managing event-driven ETL pipelines and streaming services using distributed queue technologies (such as Kafka or AWS Kinesis)
• Experience developing REST APIs that interface with robust and scalable microservices (preferably with Postman)
• Manage releases and deployment, and work with QE and DevOps to automate testing
• Engineer with security and compliance as a foundation
• Nice to have: Experience implementing data and/or machine learning algorithms in production systems (e.g. AWS Sagemaker, GCP Datalab or custom implementation)

• Strong communicator – able to explain key concepts in meetings and in writing to teammates from different functions and experience levels.
• Passion for data with years of progressive experience as a software engineer.
• Demonstrate strong technical architecture and platform engineering skills along with the ability to switch between technology paradigms.
• Curious, love to learn and to dig into new technologies, and can pick them up quickly
• Maintain startup grit. Willingness and desire to take on personal responsibility for the business as a whole and “figure it out”, whether it’s in your exact functional lane or not.
