Job Description
• The Senior Software Engineer, Team Lead for Consumer Channel Sites is responsible for directing the team that designs, develops, and implements applications, as required, to support the technical capabilities at AutoTrader.com. To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires good communication skills, both with team members and business contacts. In addition, the successful Sr. Software Engineer, Team Lead must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects and be able to guide and direct others in doing so as well.
Responsibilities
• Perform hands-on coding and development of new and existing application functionality using multiple development tools based on business requirements
• Develop, implement, and maintain unit tests of applications
• Provides constructive code reviews for team members
• Participate in the design, estimation, and planning of new or changing programs
• Participate in functional test planning and testing for the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
• Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
• Share knowledge by effectively documenting work
• Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise
• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
• Work with the team to ensure the quality of the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
• Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution.
• Manage the day-to-day functions of a small team of employees and work with team to set and achieve team goals
• Support process improvements, which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
• Drive engineering excellence and best practices within the team
• Participate in design and maintenance of enterprise architecture
• Participate in on-call activities
• Prepare and administer mid-year and annual performance evaluations
• Provide career coaching and growth by identifying the development needs of team members
• Coach, mentor and identify training opportunities to improve their knowledge or skill sets
• Proactively serve as a troubleshooting resource and subject matter expert across the team
Job Qualifcation
• Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years’ experience in relevant technologies
• Good knowledge of and experience with design patterns, visual design elements, web technologies, and development methodologies
• Ability to work on multiple projects and be flexible to adapt to any given situation
• Good knowledge in Object Oriented analysis, design and programming.
• Experience in Java, JavaScript, React, SQL, AWS (Lambda, Terraform)
• Experience using automated unit testing technologies (JUNIT, HTTPUnit, and Selenium).
• Possess basic project management skills to track all project work
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization
• Exceptional customer service attitude and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
