System Engineer – VM ITO

Job Description

• Responsible for the installation, configuration, and management of virtualization (VMware) and cloud infrastructure
• Design technical architecture for cloud solutions for availability, scalability, reliability, performance and security
• Perform administration and operations of virtualization and cloud infrastructure, including 24 x 7 standby, to support business operations and project delivery
• Manage components of virtualization infrastructure –  vCenter, Update Manager, Host Profiles, Auto Deploy, vRealize suite (Operations, Automation, Orchestrator, Business and LogInsight)
• Manage and implement High Availability architectures in a virtualization and cloud infrastructure including but not limited to compute, storage and network workload management, making use of software features such as Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) and Storage DRS.
• Drive virtualization and cloud performance tuning, capacity planning and automation
• Plan and deliver system performance enhancements, upgrades, regular system maintenance, and patching on servers, hypervisors and all supported components
• Provide technical leadership as subject matter expert to advice solutions for new projects
• Collaborate in cross team troubleshooting of complex end-to-end application issues, particularly performance issues within virtualization and cloud environment and manage escalations to vendors
• Work/collaborate with other teams and vendors
• Escalate issues and provide progress reports and recommendations to supervisor
• Analyze, develop and maintain best management practices, policies, processes, procedures, standards and guidelines, for both existing and new virtualization and cloud infrastructure
• Stay current with emerging technologies related to virtualization and cloud technology domain and propose improvements, to meet organization goals

Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Engineering / Electrical and Electronic engineering or equivalent degree, with more than 5 years’ experience in a similar position
• Strong technical knowledge in administration and maintenance of VMware infrastructure, including:
• Knowledge of VMware vCenter 6.5 and above is a must
• Knowledge of VMware vSphere 6.5 and above is a must
• Knowledge of VMware SRM 6.5 and above is a plus
• Knowledge of vRealize Suite is a plus
• Knowledge of Container technology is a plus
• Knowledge of Kubernetes technology is a plus
• Experience of vSphere deployment, configuration, maintenance and upgrade
• Knowledge of Power CLI, Power Shell and/or shell scripting
• Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible, Automic is a plus
• Working knowledge of managing Cisco UCS and HP Blade system is preferred
• Working knowledge of Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Susie) and Windows is preferred
• Excellent analytical and technical troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of networking and storage (SAN) technology
• Knowledge in Disaster Recovery (DR), implementing DR solution and procedures
• Understanding of ITIL concepts, in particular Change, Incident and Problem Management
• Project Management skills
• At least 5 years’ experience in the administration of VMware infrastructure primarily vCenter and vSphere.
• Working experience in designing scalable enterprise virtualization and cloud architectures for critical business system is a plus
• Working experience with clouds such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud is a plus
• Working experience in vRealize Suite and VMware SRM, NSX and vSAN is a plus.
• At least 3 years’ experience in the administration of Cisco UCS and HP Blade system.
• Working experience in most of the technical areas described above, if not all, is required
• Experience in project management, design, planning and deployment of IT infrastructure solution will be an added advantage

Desired Certifications:

• _{VMware Certified Professional 6.0 (VCP6) or higher is preferred}
• _{ITIL v3.0 Foundation certificate}
• _{AWS Certifications is preferred}
